Dear MANN-FILTER fans, watch out! Today, we are happy to announce a very special highlight of our racing season 2019:
Our beloved MANN-FILTER Mamba will compete in the Intercontinental GT Challenge 2019 “Powered by Pirelli”. And you won’t have to wait much longer:
The IGTC enters the new season on February 3rd with the 12-hour race on the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia. In total, five long-distance races on some of the most beautiful and spectacular racetracks in the world are part of this championship which is being held on five continents:
01-03 February 2019 – Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, Australia
28-30 March 2019 – Laguna Seca Raceway California 8 Hours, USA
25-28 July 2019 – Total 24 Hours of Spa, Belgium
23-25 August 2019 – Suzuka 10 Hours, Japan
21-23 November 2019 – Kyalami 9 Hour, South Africa
Under the flag of the “Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER GruppeM Racing” we face the tough competition in Down Under with a first-class line-up: The yellow-green Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be driven by three of the best GT3 pilots in the world.
With our two “Maximilians” you can once again look forward to two familiar faces to sit behind the steering wheel of the MANN-FILTER Mamba. Maximilian Götz, who has been one of the fastest and most experienced GT drivers for years, and Maximilian Buhk, who is also one of the best drivers in the GT scene. The trio will be completed by the Italian Raffaele Marciello, who has proven his outstanding talent by winning the title in the Blancpain GT Series 2018. All three racers are part of the Mercedes-AMG performance squad.
Our three snake tamers will meet strong competitors in Bathurst: 28 excellently staffed GT3 racing cars from eleven different manufacturers are part of the strong field of 41 participants. The 6.213 kilometer Mount Panorama Circuit in southeastern Australia which goes partly over public streets, is one of the most demanding, but also one of the most popular racetracks among racing drivers and spectators with its 23 bends, 174 meters difference in altitude and a maximum gradient of 16%.
The demands are high in the Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER GruppeM Racing – after all, Mercedes-AMG is aiming to defend its title in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. “We are not only driven by the Olympic spirit”, Jörg Engels, Director Brand Management Automotive Aftermarket at MANN+HUMMEL, points out. “In view of the well-known long-distance qualities of the Mercedes-AMG GT3, the experienced GruppeM Racing team and our three top pilots, we would like to be in the top positions at Mount Panorama. The season of 2019 started perfectly for MANN-FILTER with the class victory at the 24 Hours Dubai two weeks ago. We are now looking forward to the second start of our non-European motorsport campaign in Bathurst.”
The 12-hour race in Bathurst will start on 3 February 2019 at 5.45 A.M. local time (CET plus 10 hours) early in the morning, which corresponds to 19.45 P.M. on Saturday evening in Germany. The finish will be on Sunday at 17.45 local time (7.45 CET).
Of course you can follow the long distance spectacle at Mount Panorama via livestream and live timing on www.intercontinentalgtchallenge.com while keeping your fingers crossed for the MANN-FILTER Mamba.
