Successful start into the motorsport season for the MANN-FILTER mamba
P8 for the Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER at the start of the Nordschleife season 2018
Indy Dontje, Christian Hohenadel and Renger van der Zande started from P17 into yesterday‘s first round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft at the Nuerburgring. Shortly after the start, the MANN-FILTER Mamba had fallen back to P20.
Over the four-hour race distance, the team led by MANN-FILTER and HTP Motorsport then successfully fought back to the front and finished P8 as the second-best Mercedes-AMG in a high-class field with 24 GT3 race cars.
Start driver Christian Hohenadel was satisfied with the result: “I’m happy that the season has finally started! Today, we had a solid and hassle-free first race after the winter break, where both drivers and the whole team gained significant experience.”
“I am very happy with the performance and the speed of the car and the effort of the team. It’s nice to see that we can be in the front and that we are competitive”, Indy Dontje says – and adds: “The first laps on the Nordschleife this year were a great feeling again – I’m already looking forward to the next races here at the Nürburgring.”
Renger van der Zande, who stepped in for a sick Maximilian Buhk, comments: “It was a great training for the whole team. Christian and Indy did a great job. On my stint, unfortunately, I was a bit unlucky because I had to come in unplanned due to a flat tire on the right rear. Therefore a top 10 finish is a good result.
It was fun to sit behind the wheel of a MANN-FILTER Mamba again after the VLN season finale in 2015 – back then it was still the yellow-green MANN-FILTER Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. And today even my helmet‘s color matched perfectly well.” 😉
The first rounds of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft at the Nürburgring are an important preparation for the ADAC Zurich 24h race, which will take place at the Nürburgring from 10th to 13th of May 2018.
After this successful start, we are now looking forward to a promising season.
The MANN-FILTER Mamba and Indy Dontje are now off to Oschersleben for the official test days of the ADAC GT Masters before returning to the Nürburgring for the second round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft on the Saturday after Easter weekend. The driver line-up for this race will be announced soon – stay tuned!

On February 28, 2018, as part of our kick-off for the motorsport season 2018, we finally presented our new vehicle design and driver configuration for the ADAC GT Masters 2018 to the public. There was a big surprise: At the ADAC GT Masters 2018, a second Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be on the track for the MANN-FILTER Team HTP. Both vehicles are held in yellow-green venomous snake optics and are thus based on the nickname “MANN-FILTER Mamba” which is already familiar in fan circles. And that’s not it: With Maximilian Götz and Markus Pommer in the #47 and Maximilian Buhk and Indy Dontje in the #48, we are looking forward to both familiar and new faces behind the wheel.
The #48 constellation made its debut last year in the Sunday race of the ADAC GT Masters at Nuerburgring – with great success: Maxi Buhk spontaneously jumped in and placed the MANN-FILTER Team HTP directly in qualifying as best AMG. In the later race, they made 7th place and P3 in the junior classification. Indy Dontje was behind the wheel of our yellow-green racing car throughout the season, finishing fourth in ADAC GT Masters 2017 junior classification. Therefore we have an exciting and promising driver pairing, which brings a lot of potential for the upcoming Season.
The new driver duo on #47 is also promising: With Maximilian Götz we not only have a real motorsport-size behind the wheel, but also a former ADAC GT Masters winner (2012). Markus Pommer, who competed in the Aust Motorsport Audi last season, was able to claim his first victory in an ADAC GT Masters race at the 2017 Nürburgring. Again, this is a great team that definitely has the right conditions for a venomous MANN-FILTER Mamba and hunger for podium finishes.
In addition to the ADAC GT Masters, MANN-FILTER will take part in the legendary ADAC Zurich 24-hours race at Nuerburgring. With an AMG supported Mercedes-AMG GT3 powered by HTP Motorsport, we’ll have the potential this year to be at the forefront. In preparation, we will also take part in the first two races of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nuerburgring. The driver constellations for the long-distance missions will be announced shortly.
